Speaker Series: Acute wound management in pharmacy
This publication summarises a CPD-accredited presentation from the Australian Pharmacy Professional (APP) Conference (March 2025; Gold Coast, Australia) on the pharmacy management of acute wounds (e.g. bites, burns, grazes and scrapes) and the use of antiseptics and appropriate dressings, coupled with tailored follow-up care. Pharmacist and wound care consultant Lusi Sheehan from Perth, spoke about recognising common acute minor wounds and local wound
infections, the role of pharmacists in managing acute wounds, and current evidence regarding the use of over-the-counter antiseptics. This APP session was supported by iNova Pharmaceuticals and the session summary by Radiant Health.
