Educational Series – Management of COPD in New Zealand general practice

This publication is intended as an educational resource for primary health professionals managing patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and includes the following material:

• A comprehensive table of funded maintenance therapy for patients with COPD
• A review of the evidence for recommended maintenance therapy in COPD
• A summary of real-world maintenance therapy prescribing for COPD in New Zealand.

The NZ COPD Guidelines 2021 are the first-ever guidelines for management of COPD in a New Zealand context. The guidelines were developed by a working group of respiratory experts from the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation NZ, and are based on 2020 COPD-X Plan and GOLD treatment guidelines.
